​2019 White Lake Young Artist Solo Performance
Winners
The White Lake Chamber Music Festival would like to congratulate the winners of the 2019 White Lake Young Artist Solo Competition. 
 
Accomplished music students from many of Michigan’s universities and colleges were represented in the preliminary round, held in March. The top 10 were chosen to compete on Saturday, April 20, at Ferry Memorial Church.
 
The first-place winner was Matteo Generani, piano (Central Michigan University).
Gabrielle Karel, piano (Hope College) and Lauren Glomb, oboe (Grand Valley State University) tied for second place. The Audience Favorite was Kayla Cieslak, flute (Eastern Michigan University)



Judges:
Jenny Jones, retired violinist St. Louis Symphony
Bonnie Bierma, soloist, chamber musician, Blue Lake Public Radio host
Robert Swan, retired violist Chicago Syphony
The top finalists were:
Kelly Avila, viola – Interlochen Arts Academy
Kayla Cieslak, flute – Eastern Michigan University
Lauren Glomb, oboe – Grand Valley State University
Gabrielle Karel, piano – Hope College
Linus Guerra, sax - Grand Valley State University
Samuel Musser, piano – Hillsdale College
Xinyu Zhu, violin – Central Michigan University
Matteo Generani, piano - Central Michigan University
Stephanie Sowers, clarinet – Michigan State University
Samantha Kao, piano – University of Michigan





White Lake Young Artist Solo Performance 2018

White Lake Music Society would like to congratulate the winners of the 2018 White Lake Young Artist Solo Performance. Accomplished music students from many of Michigan’s universities and colleges were represented in the preliminary round, held in March. The top 11 were chosen to compete on Saturday, April 22, at Ferry Memorial Church.

The first-place winner was Ian Chen, cello, from Eastern Michigan University
Second place went to Maria Guglielmina, flute, from Western Michigan University
Third place was awarded to Eden West, piano, Ann Arbor Pioneer High School
The Audience Favorite was Yaroslav Hnezdilov, piano, from Eastern Michigan University

 
Awards totaling $1000 were given to the three winners based on the ruling of professional judges. The Audience Favorite will receive an award of $125.
