Introducing the New White Lake Music Series
The White Lake Chamber Music Society is excited to announce a new music series in the White Lake area, running during the winter months through April 2025. The new White Lake Music Series will feature a variety of monthly events that includes 2 live classical music performances held at Blue Lake Public Radio’s Studio and 3 “talks” by Foley Schuler, Lazaro Vega, and Bob Swan at the Book Nook & Java Shop. These great events will help to turn the drudgery of cold, winter months into a reason to come together, strengthening community ties and bringing greater vibrancy to the White Lake area.
A generous grant from the White Lake Fund of the Community Foundation of Muskegon County will make 2 in-person concerts possible. The following concerts will be broadcasted live from the Dave Myers Performing Arts Studio of Blue Lake Public Radio, 300 E. Crystal Lake Rd., Twin Lake. Free tickets will be available on a first come, first served basis:
February 27, 2025 – 2PM Kuang-Hao Huang, solo piano recital featuring Schubert Piano Sonata in A Major, Beethoven Piano Sonata No.30 in E Major, and the Bach French Suite No. 5 in G Major
April 10, 2025 – 2PM Cello/Piano Recital, Kuang-Hao Huang and Marina Hoover, the Debussy Cello Sonata, plus a Spanish flair featuring Gaspar Cassado’s Requiebros, Enrique Grandados, and Albeniz’s Celebre Serenata Espagnola.
The new White Lake Music Series will also include 3 lectures featuring local celebrities: Lazaro Vega, Foley Schuler, and Bob Swan. These will all be held at 7PM at the Book Nook & Java Shop, 8744 Ferry St., Montague.
January 28 – Lazaro Vega, Jazz Director at Blue Lake Public Radio and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, will share on “Great Jazz Solos”. This will be a ‘down through the years’ retrospective, with an emphasis on music of the 1920’s and 1930’s.
February 25 – Foley Schuler, Blue Lake Public Radio’s weekday classical music host, will speak on “Celebrating Charles Ives at 150”.
March 25, 2025 – Retired violist of the Chicago Symphony Bob Swan will share “The 3 B’s – Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms”.
The Society’s mission of producing world-class chamber music concerts, promoting and supporting classical music learning opportunities for all ages, and creating awareness of the value and significance of fine music will be strengthened by the addition of these exciting events!
